This is perhaps the first passion of Biodec staff. Mould has the potential to affect human health in three ways; Allergenic reaction, Toxigenic affect and Pathogenic cause. Any of these three can be a cause of great distress both emotionally as well as physically.

Following the Christchurch earthquakes Biodec was selected by EQR and EQC to be the sole provider of decontamination solutions either as make-safe or full remedial works.

In the years following the Christchurch earthquakes many homes were affected by the presence of wet liquefaction in the subfloors. This in turn encouraged mould growth on both subfloor members and internal surfaces. Biodec provided remediation strategies and solutions to EQC and Fletchers EQR to assist homeowners in maintaining a healthy environment.

Mould becomes strangely beautiful when you look at it up close. This is one of the reasons why Biodec staff and in particular, Director Carl Sheehan is so passionate about this aspect of decontamination.
